  • Mandatory theoretical course (9 50-minute classroom sessions).

Tecnic has many suggestions on how to improve your chances of successfully passing SAAQ’S written knowledge test, such as:
  • Go over the learning material, such as the manual Maîtriser votre moto before writing the test.
  • Practice writing the test at home with our Online exam.

Requirements to register for the knowledge test:
  • You must be at least 16 years old..
  • You must schedule an appointment to write the knowledge test at a SAAQ Service Centre.
Documents required on the day of the SAAQ knowledge test:

Write the full 64-question test covering 3 main subjects: Highway Safety Code, road signs and traffic signals, and techniques for operating a motorcycle. The passing mark is 75% for the section on the Highway Safety Code and the section on road signs and traffic signals, and 85% for the section on the techniques for operating a motorcycle. Here is the breakdown:
  • Highway Safety Code (passing mark: 12/16)
  • Road signs and traffic signals (passing mark: 12/16)
  • Techniques for operating a motorcycle (passing mark: 28/32)

You must wait at least 28 days before retaking the test. To help you succeed your supplemental test, here are our suggestions:
  • Go over your learning material, manual and notes taken in class, and focus on the sections about which you don’t feel as confident.
  • Tecnic offers online exams so you can practice at home and get used to the way SAAQ phrases its questions.

Once you have passed your knowledge test, the SAAQ will issue you a class 6R learner’s licence valid for 18 months.

With your class 6R learner’s licence, you can now move on to the second step in your training: closed track and on road practice sessions.
