Class 1 & Class 3 Licences
Conditions* to obtain a class 1 licence (Heavy Vehicle Combination)
- Hold a class 5 licence (passenger vehicle) for 3 years OR for 2 years if you have successfully completed a truck driving training program with a training centre recognized by the SAAQ.
- Pass the SAAQ’s vision test
- Have no more than 3 demerit points entered on your driving record.
- Not have had your licence suspended or revoked during the previous 2 years.
- Provide a satisfactory medical report (SAAQ Form M-28).
- Pass the SAAQ knowledge test (general and air brake system).
- Pass the 2 SAAQ road tests (pre-trip inspection, closed track)
Note: Class 1 also authorizes the holder to operate all other types of road vehicles, except for motorcycles.
Conditions* to obtain a class 1 licence (Straight-Body Truck)
- Hold a class 5 licence (passenger vehicle) for 2 years.
- Pass the SAAQ’s vision test
- Have no more than 3 demerit points entered on your driving record.
- Not have had your licence suspended or revoked during the previous 2 years.
- Provide a satisfactory medical report (SAAQ Form M-28).
- Pass the SAAQ knowledge test (general and air brake system).
- Pass the 2 SAAQ road tests (pre-trip inspection, closed track)
Note: A class 3 licence also authorizes its holder to drive all other types of vehicles, except for road vehicles covered by class 1, class 2 and class 6 (motorcycles).
